The cover blurb waxes poetic about how funny this novel is.
I see no evidence of that. So far, Sebastian is a complete bastard--he's punched his wife, threatened to suffocate his daughter, lied through his teeth, stolen money from his wife, refused to get the landlord to fix the plumbing, and pursued young women.
He's a bastard.
And if this is semi-autobiographical, as I have read, I don't think I like Donleavy too much either.
