I am currently reading my way through a long list of science fiction and fantasy titles. (http://www.npr.org/2011/08/07/138938145/science-fiction-and-fantasy-finalists if you are interested in the list).
I usually avoid World War II books like the plague, but this one is very beautiful. Perhaps because it doesn't deal with the actual war all that much. James' time in a POW camp in Germany and the experiences of his wife and his sister during and after the war.
Lots of nature, particularly birds.
Will finish this one this evening.
